Frequently asked pricing questions
Is there a monthly fee?
Not for the API itself. Pay-As-You-Go has no subscription — you only pay for the calls you actually make. Pro ($19 per 30 days) is an optional add-on that unlocks cache controls and the inspector. Pro doesn't auto-renew; you pay again when you want another 30 days.
What does the markup actually cover?
Query classification, model routing, session memory in Redis, exact + semantic cache, cross-provider failover, usage dashboards, CSV export, and all infra costs. Most developers still save 30–50% overall because Prism routes cheaper-but-capable models for queries that don't need top-tier reasoning, then caches identical and near-identical responses on top.
What happens when I exceed the free tier?
Requests return a 403 with a free_tier_limit error. Add $5 to upgrade to paid — your balance carries over and unlocks all modes, streaming, unlimited keys, and 100-message sessions.
What does Pro add over Pay-As-You-Go?
Caching is free for every tier — the headline numbers (hit rate, savings) show up the same way. Pro adds the controls: configurable TTL (down to 60s, up to 30 days), tunable semantic similarity threshold (0.70–0.99), the cache inspector for browsing and manually evicting entries, per-model coaching breakdowns, and 10× the cache storage budget. If you're not actively tuning cache behavior, you don't need Pro.
How does Pro renewal work?
Each Pro payment is a flat 30-day pass. No auto-renewal, no recurring charge. If you renew before your current 30 days expire, the new period stacks onto the end (so paying Day 25 of a 30-day period gives you 30 more starting Day 30, not Day 25). Renewals are a deliberate click — you'll never get a surprise charge.
Can I get a refund on unused balance?
Yes. Unused balance is refundable on request within 90 days of your last top-up. Pro is non-refundable once activated (it's a fixed 30-day pass, not consumable credit). Email hello@ssimplifi.com and we'll process the balance refund.
